Chapter 9
Watching her tremble, Snow and White make eye contact and open their mouths at the same time.
Snow & White: Noscomnia!
Mitile & Hans: Bwuh?!
With the magic lifted, Mitile and Hans appear right in front of Grete. They were still blinking with surprise.
Grete: Big bro?! And Mitile too! Uhm, did you hear that just now…?
Hans: Ah…I…
In the hands of the panicking Hans was a small wooden box he worked hard to make.
He had the help of Mitile, Riquet, and Arthur to create it.
Snow: Oh big bro! You can do it!
White: Big bro, let’s go!
Hans: …gh…Grete! Please, take this.
Grete: Is this a treasure box…?
Hans: Try opening it.
Grete: …It’s a girl. She’s drawing happily. Is this…me?
Hans: Yeah, it is. I drew it.
Grete: You did?
Hans: Y-Yeah…since you always show me your drawings, I made you one as thanks.
I was thinking about how happy you look whenever you draw. I wanted to capture that smile so…
…It doesn’t look good at all though.
In response to Hans whose voice grew smaller and smaller, Grete shook her head sideways numerous times.
Grete: That’s not true at all! It’s super great!!
I’m really happy that you made me a drawing, Hans! I can tell you put your all into it…
Hans: Grete…
Mitile: I think Hans feels the same.
Grete: Hm?
Mitile: Whether it’s good or not doesn’t matter at all, it never did. All the drawings you make, Grete, become Hans’ treasures…
Since they’re only one of a kind, a precious piece.
It’s because he treasures the you who draws that Hans drew this and gave it to you.
Hans: Yeah! I love the Grete who loves drawing!
I love how pretty the colours you use are, and how nice your lines are. I love allll of your art, Grete! I look forward to your drawings everyday!
…So, I’m sorry…I was stupid and didn’t try to understand how you felt, and forced your art tools on you…
…gh…
Grete: …Big bro?
Mitile: …! Rutile, pass me mother’s hat!
Rutile: What?
Receiving Tiletta’s hat from Rutile, Mitile lightly covered Hans’ head with the hat. However, it was much too big for the young Hans.
Mitile: Ehehehe! The true form of the Great Wizard, Dancing Hat, wasn’t my brother, but yours, Grete!
Hans did all this…
Grete: Pfft, ahahahaha!!
Hans, Rutile, & Mitile: …!
Grete: It’s too big on you! Your face is half covered, aha, it’s so funny!
Hans: D-Don’t laugh so much…! Does it really not suit me…?
Grete: Mmhmm. But, thank you, big bro,
I’ll treasure this drawing foreeever!
It’s just as Mitile says, the drawings your loved one makes with all their heart is a one of a kind treasure!
Thanks for drawing me! Next time, I’ll draw you!
Hans: …Okay! I can’t wait!
Grete: Mr. Rutile, Mitile, thank you too!
Rutile: Hmhm, being able to see you smile again puts one on my face as well!
Mitile: Same here! I’m so relieved to see you smile again, Grete!
The rabbit drawings pranced around Grete.
Following them were the drawings of flowers, sheep, family, and many more jumping around her.
Mitile: Look you two! Grete’s drawings are happily hopping about!
I think they’re also overjoyed that your smile has returned!
Grete: Heehee…
A warm feeling spread across to even us who were still invisible, watching their glee.
White: Right then, I believe our turn is up.
Snow & White: Noscomnia!
At their command, the spell was lifted off all of us.
Pleasantly dressed wizards suddenly popped up in the flower field.
Murr: Ta-daaaa!
Mithra: Oh, can we talk now?
Akira: Yes, we can, she sees us now.
Murr: Would’ve given her a big fright if we talked while invisible!
‘Cept, she still looks a bit frightened anyhoo!
Like he said, Grete’s eyes kept on blinking at all of our sudden appearances.
Hans: They’re wizards of the Sage! They all came here because they were worried about you.
Grete: Worried about me…?
Riquet: It’s nice to meet you, Grete. I’m Riquet. I’m glad you’ve cheered up.
Mitile: He’s a friend I made at the Magic Manor! We’re the best of buddies.
Grete: Mitile’s friend…! It’s good to meet you, Riquet, I’m Grete!
Murr: I’m Murr, a wizard of West Country! My specialty is being a cat!
Meoooowww, *rolling rolling*!
Grete: Hahaha! It’s good to meet you too, Mr. Murrkitty.
Seeing her smile so brightly now, it was hard to believe that moments ago Grete had her head down in tears.
The tears remaining at the corners of her eyes glistened in the sunlight raining down on the field of flowers.
The special magic that was once casted on Mitile, was just cast on Grete.
Mithra: Is it time for the anniversary thing to start now? You mentioned that you eat a bigger meal than usual, right?
Rutile: That we do! Let’s start then. Arthur, Murr, will you?
Arthur: Ready to go. Now, to celebrate our meeting…
Pernoctant Nixzo!
Murr: Eanul Rambul!
Giant fireworks shot up at the sky from Arthur and Murr’s hands.
Grete’s eyes widened in awe, and the falling remains of the fireworks burst into baskets and art supplies.
Within the baskets were delicious looking pies and sandwiches, along with juice boxes. Before them was a lightly flapping blanket.
It landed at our feet, and the baskets politely sat themselves down. In a fireworks blast, we were all ready to have a picnic.
Mitile: Wooow, it looks so yummy!
Grete: Hey, these are my art tools!
Riquet: Grete, will you teach me about art? I would like to try drawing something for my loved ones too.
Grete: Okiedokie!
Rutile: Hehe, everything’s perfect to go.
On this normal day like any other, we shall celebrate it like a special day!
With Rutile’s cheerful voice as the signal, the curtains open for the anniversary to begin.
A special day that united a pair of young brothers, creating a bond as wonderful as magic, overflowing with love.
And today, a new meeting was born, between a little Crybaby Bunny, and the encouraging Dancing Hat. At their backs were the flowers in full bloom, cheering them on.
Akira: Rutile, is this enough flowers for the wreath?
Rutile: Yes, that should be good. Your flower coordination is so neat!
Murr: Wait wait!!
White: Murr, are you already finished gathering flowers?
Murr: Yep. Now I’m playing tag with the bunnies!
I bet the bunnies who get to see the world at the same height as these flowers are living a sparkly life! I’m trying to get into the mindset of a bunny now.
He leaps after the rabbits in a chase.
